Important information regarding the supply of Typherix®
Vi typhoid polysaccharide vaccine & Hepatyrix®
hepatitis A (inactivated) and typhoid polysaccharide vaccine (adsorbed)
We regret to inform you that GlaxoSmithKline will experience global supply constraints until Q2 2014 for both Typherix and Hepatyrix.
Why will GSK be out of stock?
The global supply constraints are due to a delay in a new manufacturing facility coming on line, and GSK has found it necessary to use capacity normally reserved for typhoid antigen to manufacture critical childhood vaccines. GSK has prioritised the
production of vaccines according to the 2011-2012 WHO priorities and will be unable to manufacture typhoid antigen until Q2 2014.
This supply constraint is not related to a quality or safety issue with GSK’s typhoid antigen containing vaccines.
For how long will GSK be out of stock?
Typherix® [PI]: is now out of stock until Q2 2014.
Hepatyrix® [PI]: is now out of stock. Our Autumn / Winter 2011 supply of Hepatyrix is delayed and is now expected to be available to order in Spring 2012. Hepatyrix is then expected to go out of stock later in 2012 until Q2 2014.
Where can I get an alternative vaccine?
There are alternative Hepatitis A vaccines available either from GSK, Sanofi Pasteur MSD or Crucell.
Typhoid vaccines are available from Sanofi Pasteur MSD or Crucell.
